A Very Special Birthday/Valentine's Day

February has passed and now it's March. Holy Moly! How did that happen?? We had a lot of exciting things happen to us in February. Our biggest highlights were my birthday and Valentine's Day.

In my last post, I mentioned that I want to work on myself and continue to grow as a person. I'm definitely still working on that. Another new years goal that I had was to develop a new hobby. I used to paint in my adolescent years and early college. Mostly, it was just for my classes, not a hobby. So finally, (about 8 years later), I decided to get back into painting. I used one of my photographs and turned it into a canvas painting. It felt incredible to paint again! I had forgotten how much fun it is. I'm planning to do more in the future.

 Finished!

When it came close to my birthday, Collin put together a fun birthday party for me. He created an Asian-themed party with dessert sushi as our treat. It seriously looks like real sushi except with rice crispies treats and candy in the center. We also played some fruit ninja to go along with the theme. Collin did so well with the decorating! He is always so creative and knows how to make me happy.

On the day of my birthday, I went to work and found some sweet surprises from my coworkers. I got off work early and celebrated with Collin. We went out to a sushi place we've never been to before. It was delicious! Afterwords, we did a little shopping and came to open presents. Overall, it was such a great birthday and I felt so much love from family and friends.

The next day was Valentine's Day. You can probably imagine that having a birthday and Valentine's Day back-to-back can get pretty busy. Growing up, what I loved most about Valentine's Day was, of course, receiving valentines from school. I work at a preschool so I got to see my students give valentines to each other. Not to mention, I got a few gifts as well. I felt like I was reliving those moments of when I was a kid. After work, we each made our own pizza in the shape of a heart and played games. It was a pretty low key Valentine's Day, but I was happy to have spent it with a special person that I love.

I have probably become one of those weird dog moms that likes to dress up their dog, but you gotta admit, she looks cute. :)
