What's in Store for Summer?

So... remember when I told you in my last blog that I will try to be better about blogging? Clearly I need to work on that. Things have been so crazy and busy ever since I started my new job as a preschool teacher. I will start off by saying that things are going well there. My first week with the kids was so tough, but it got better once I got the hang of things. Let's just say that our class has the most kids and almost all of them are active. You can imagine that things can get pretty wild. I work full time and sometimes come home so exhausted. I have learned from past experiences to see the positive sides of things and just have fun. This is experience will definitely be worth it! I love teaching and we really do have some great kids. The best part is interacting and laughing with the children.

I know it has been a while, but our 4th of July this year was so fun. I had just started at my job and was so glad to get the day off on the 4th. Collin and I got to enjoy a night out by eating Mexican food on the Friday before the 4th. I like moments where I can just go out with my husband, free from any stress or worries and just having fun together. I took a lot of snapchats that day, but I like this particular one:

On Monday the 4th, we started things off right by going for a hike up in West Austin. We went to this place called Bull Creek Trail where we went on a nature walk and did some exploring. It was so hot and humid that day and come to find out there were natural pools that you can jump into to cool down. I seriously thought about bringing my swim suit, but decided not to, because I figured we didn't need to. Had we had known we would've worn swim suits. Oh well. It was still a great time and we got our exercise for the day.

We had to really plan out our day for the 4th since we knew it was going to be crowded wherever we went. We learned last year that Downtown Austin has the worst crowds so we decided not to go there. We went to Round Rock to watch the fireworks with some friends from our ward. We got there fairly early to get a good seat for the fireworks. We went to this place called Old Settlers Park. It was kind of like a fair where we saw petting zoos, concerts, and parachuting where we saw people jump out of planes. It was really neat! We enjoyed watching the firework show and were able to drive out with hardly any problems with traffic. I always look forward to the 4th of July and this one was a hit! We had a fun time with our friends, celebrating the freedom of our country.

Our hike at Bull Creek Trail. We both look sweaty, but I like this picture.

Next up on our list for the month of July was our three year anniversary on the 27th! We celebrated early by going to the San Antonio Temple on the Saturday before our anniversary. It was a much-needed day and I was glad to spend it with my hubby. Unfortunately we were both sick on the day of our anniversary, so we couldn't go out and do anything exciting. Our original plan was to go to this water park near San Antonio called Schlitterbahn the following weekend, but I still wasn't feeling well. Those darn kids! They have been getting me sick with their germs. I had a terrible stomach flu and could hardly get out of bed. It was pretty rough, but at least we got to spend time with each other. Collin wasn't as sick, but still helped take care of me and cleaned the house. It's moments like these that make me realize I made the right decision in marrying him. He told me that even though this anniversary wasn't that great, we still had plenty of time to have even better anniversaries. :) He is always so giving, patient, and hard-working. He always bends over backwards to take care of me and to make me a happy wife. I'm so grateful to have all of eternity with him.

 Our day at the temple.

One of our favorites from our wedding day. I still can't believe it's been 3 years!

Lately it has been so rainy in Texas, so I really don't know what our plan is for the rest of the summer. Don't get me wrong, I love the rain and the temperature has been so much cooler. However, I would love to do something that has to do with swimming. We shall see though. That's it for now! We will catch you in our next blog.
