Our big reason for moving to Austin, Texas was Collin's job at General Motors. Before coming out here, I had a lot of people ask me what I was going to be doing for work. During that first year, I didn't have a clue as to what I wanted to do. A few years ago, I graduated from BYU Idaho with my Bachelor's in Child Development. Ever since, I knew I always wanted to be a teacher working with children. I recently interviewed at a preschool/day care called Bright Horizons Family Solutions for a position as a preschool teacher. I got a phone call a week later saying that they wanted to offer me the position!!! I was so excited and decided to accept the job. It's at a place that I have wanted to work at for a while and I was so happy to be a part of their team. I just went through my first week of online training to get me prepared for my teaching position. Soon, I will be working with the 3-year-olds turning 4 alongside another teacher. I cannot wait!!! It is my favorite age group.
I feel very confident about getting further ahead in my career. It's something that I have prayed and asked Heavenly Father in order to help me along my path. I know that things in life happen for a reason, and maybe this is what I am supposed to be doing right now. I am excited to see what I can contribute to this job and the children I will be working with. Children learn by discovering and I'm hoping to make a difference in their lives as they grow older.
Here are some pictures of the events that have gone on during the past few months. I will try to keep y'all updated about our latest and greatest. :)
I do a lot of photo shoots with friends. These are the photos my friend Hailey took of me. She is amazing!!! :)
I volunteered to be a photographer at a priest/laurel prom they held at Round Rock. I felt like I was in high school all over again. I also had a handsome prom date to accompany me. ;) We had some photo booth fun!
A quick snapchat, pre photo shoot.
The photo team that came together to help create memories for our youth.
The theme of the prom was carnival. This is one of the photos I took during the formal session. I LOVE the background and this couple was so cute. :)
We decided to get one of our own. :) Collin is so tall!
The picture I posted for Mother's Day. I love my mom. (and my sister too. ;) )
We made Mother's Day cards for our moms for an FHE activity. We used my water color set to paint pictures on the cards.
Our completed cards for our moms. Collin's is on the left and mine is on the right. Just like an artist, we put our initials in the corners. (Please excuse my feet.)
The card I made for my stepmom.
On Mother's Day, the men in our ward helped out all the women in their callings so we can all go to relief society. I'm normally in primary. It was so nice of them. To top it off, they gave each of us cheesecake, my favorite dessert!
I even got a rose! I know technically I'm not a mom yet, but I think it's a great day to celebrate past, present, and future moms. :)
We got to see the inside of the Capital Building.
Our picture by the mural sign. They said "Keep Austin Weird," so that is what we're doing. :)
Our engage-iversary on May 24th. We celebrated by going out to eat chicken wings. Very romantic. :) I think I will keep him around for a while longer...
When opportunity rises, we go and see the San Antonio Temple.
We had so many thunderstorms in the month of May! Some houses near us got flooded, so we helped people clean out the debris. Luckily, the people were okay. I became a storm chaser. I would go outside and try to get a picture of lightning on my canon camera. I finally got a good one after many attempts. I was very proud of myself. :)
From Memorial Day. We went on a small hike at a nature park nearby. It was beautiful, but hot that day!
National Donut Day. I was ready to chow down!
I always love to have a craft day. I made a bright, yet fun summer wreath to put on our door.
My summer outdoor bouquet.
The picture I posted for Father's Day. I am absolutely daddy's girl. Love this man!
I sent my dad a "care package." The candy came with a card that said, "I know I was a nerd at getting into trouble, but you always make my heart starburst."
Father's Day selfie with the hubby.
I went on a shopping spree! I got this dress at Ross for $16 which is a great deal! It might be my favorite dress I own.

Whenever I see a beautiful sunset, I take the opportunity to take a picture.
Texas has some of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen!
Picture before my "first day of school." :) I look forward to my new adventures at my job.
That's all for now...
